LONG AWAITED NEWS FROM THE TOWN HALL PRESS OFFICE THIS AFTERNOON.

A working meeting took place today between the manager of EPSAR (The Public Entity for Wastewater Sanitation of the Valencian Community ) and the Javea mayoress, Rosa Cardona.

During the meeting, an exhaustive analysis of the facilities of the Arenal WWTP (Waste Water Treatment Plants) and the follow-up to the EPSAR tertiary dossier were carried out. At the meeting, the improvements for the facilities of the Arenal WWTP of the Javea sanitation and purification system that will be implemented in the coming months were discussed. Among the measures are:-

1. Replacement of Submersible Pumps: It is proposed to replace the three current submersible pumps that drive the El Arenal submarine outfall with new pumps with a non-sealing N-type impeller. In addition, an anti-clogging programme would be implemented to anticipate and detect overconsumption due to partial clogging, with the capacity to stop the line or reverse the direction of rotation to facilitate unblocking.

2. To supervise the access to the room where the waste conveyor-compactor screw screen is located, due to its lack of watertightness. Replacement of the metal covers: Provide the El Arenal WWTP with its own equipment to supervise operation with real-time records. Implement an anti-security enclosure: Provide the El Arenal WWTP with its own equipment to supervise.

3. Operation with real-time records.

The EPSAR manager also confirmed to the mayoress that the specifications for the project to extend the Javea WWTP have been finalised and are expected to be published in September, which will lead to construction work to convert the Javea treatment plant into a tertiary system with total reuse of the water.

The mayoress, for her part, told him that next week the rainwater and sewerage maintenance work will begin in preparation for the storms and droughts at the end of the summer and the need to maintain good coordination between administrations.
