For the third consecutive year, only two blue flags will fly on Javea’s beaches, those being La Grava and Cala Granadella.
The downside is that the Environmental and Consumer Education Association (Adeac) decided that the Arenal Beach, after serveral previous years with a blue flag recognition, it will not display again this summer (as happened in 2022 and 2023). The pollution episode due to the breakage of the outfall in 2022 caused the beach to lose the award and since then it has not been revalidated.
The Jury considers four main blocks of criteria when awarding the blue flags: environmental information and education, water quality, environmental management, safety and safety and services.
