The eleventh edition of the TriXàbia triathlon takes place on September 24th 2023
The 24th edition of the Trixàbia Memorial Edu Monfort is warming up to take place this Sunday, in the different areas prepared for the events. Almost 150 participants will gather with the help of volunteers who will coordinate so that the entire event, organised by the Club Atletisme Llebeig, is a success.
The swimming tests will be carried out in the Arenal Beach, the cycling one on Avenida del Pla and the running one will run along the Primer Montañar.
A LITTLE HISTORY…
“The first time that TriXàbia was held was in 2012, organised by an events company. Three years later, in 2015, the organisation passed into the hands of Club Atletisme Llebeig, which, without profit and with the support of almost 300 volunteers, has transformed this event, giving it a unique character, and managing to bring triathletes from all over the world to our great little town, Xàbia, in the province of Alicante.
Since 2017, this triathlon is also the Memorial of our partner and friend Edu Monfort, whom we honor and miss. That year we lost Edu unexpectedly after being run over by a drunk and drugged driver, while he was training with other members of the Club Atletisme Llebeig on the N-332 road in Oliva. We have not forgotten you!
In 2020 we had to cancel the edition of due to the health crisis. But we’ve come back stronger in 2021, enthusiastically organizing new courses for both sprint and Olympic distances.
The strong and unusual storm that fell one night before TriXabia 2022 and the regulations forced us to omit the swimming sector that day, turning the event into a duathlon.
We have prepared these circuits for each sector of the competition.
You will be excited to see the Arenal beach and you will not be able to resist diving into the waters of the Mediterranean after the starting gun. After the first transition and when your heart rate stabilizes, pay attention to that light breeze with the smell of orange blossom that will accompany you until the second transition. Finally, let your mind fly along with your strides along the seashore to the finish line.
