We undoubtedly do not need tell you about last week’s awful and devastating fires in Javea and Tarbena (to name but 2!) but what we would like to do is help to raise funds for those firefighters who put their lives at risk as volunteers.
In the absence of a fire station in Javea, the brave men and women of the Balcón al Mar Voluntarios Firefighters are called upon time after time to join the other wonderful official emergency services to fight the ever increasing fires lately in our local area.
Debbie, the wife of one such volunteer, has started a Gofundme page for people to donate funds to assist the volunteers to buy what they need to keep this invaluable service going. This is what she tells us:-
This past weekend, he and his fellow volunteers proved their worth by working tirelessly to assist the local emergency services in tackling the fire that raged through the Montgo Valls.
We want to raise funds that will go towards providing vital equipment needed for firefighting and the protection of our local environment here in Javea.
