The Department of Services and the company in charge of waste management (Tetma) will meet with neighbourhood groups to explain to them the new model for the operation of the green areas.
The first to be invited are the residents of the Pinosol area. The meeting, which is open to anyone interested, will be held on Thursday 16 March at 10 a.m. in the park and will discuss the current situation of the green points and the planned changes.
For the past few months, the Town Hall has been installing video surveillance and fencing off these areas with fencing off these enclosures to help selective collection of domestic urban waste. This is a measure to tackle the uncivil use of waste and the dumping of waste outside the bins or in the containers and the abandonment of household goods, furniture, materials or plant debris at the industrial level.
Several green spots are already enclosed, but for the moment they are still equally accessible to everyone, as the access doors can be opened without a key or card, just by pressing a button.
Mata pointed out that she will not activate any card system without prior coordination with the users, so that they can continue to use the green point that is most convenient for them.
The waste that can be deposited at the Punts Verds is of organic origin, light packaging, paper and cardboard, glass, vegetable oil, clothes and footwear and domestic garden waste. The rest must be taken to the Ecoparque (in the camà de Les Sorts or the area of
Catarroges (for vegetable waste, which is free for private individuals).
The large-capacity containers that are currently being used to collect green waste are temporary so as not to leave users without a service until the permanent ones arrive that are smaller and more accessible.
