Residents of La Mandarina and Tesoro Park are asking for greater security in the wake of an avalanche of robberies. “We live in fear, Javea has never experienced so much insecurity.”

From last June to this day there have been eight homes that thieves have entered in search of money and jewelry. An average of one robbery per month.

The last robbery occurred last Friday. The thieves, taking advantage of the owners having gone out for dinner, entered their home destroying part of the furniture in search of loot. Locks, windows and alarms were also damaged during the robbery that took place shortly after 22:00 p.m.

The residents say they can’t take it anymore and are thinking of moving to another municipality. Meanwhile, the neighbourhood community asks what measures to take to solve the problem. “We ask that there be more troops and patrols watching. We live in a state of fear and daily fright. Surveillance cameras at the main entrances to urbanizations, neighborhood patrols or requesting more lighting are some of the proposals that the residents of La Mandarina and Tesoro Park are studying.

One of the victims tells that in another robbery – in just 14 seconds! “The alarm went off and in seconds they managed to get inside to carry out the robbery.”

It should be noted that this is not the only area with massive robberies. Other urbanisations like the Montgó and Tarraula are also often victims of this type of crime.
