News from the Town Hall:-
Local government, led by the mayor Rosa Cardona has expressed a firm commitment to the creation of social housing in the town. Initially, the municipality’s intention was to promote the construction of social housing for rent, but the tender process fell through due to a lack of interest from construction companies.
Given this situation, the government opted for a protected sale option, which has attracted the interest of developers.
“Housing is an absolute priority for this government, and we will exhaust all possible avenues to ensure that Javea, for the first time in many years, has public housing. We know the need exists and we are working with all available tools to offer solutions.”
The City Council has modified the statutes of AMJASA so that this entity can also promote public housing. Furthermore, thanks to the collaboration with the Regional Ministry, the project to build these homes is now a reality.
The bidding process was launched following the signing of the transfer of municipal land located near the Tren d’Alba School, which entails the construction of 64 homes. The project is part of a public-private partnership model whereby public land is tendered on a swap basis in exchange for future construction. The winning companies must deliver a specified number of subsidized housing units as part of the swap.
A total of seven companies have submitted their bids to opt for the construction of social housing in Xàbia, within the VIVE Plan, an initiative jointly promoted by the Generalitat Valenciana and Havea Town Hall.
With the participation of seven bidders in this process, Javea will take another step in its commitment to guaranteeing access to affordable housing for its residents, thus addressing a priority social demand in the municipality.
