A new project, said by Javea Town Hall to be supporting environmental recovery in the section between the right bank of the River Gorgos and the Javea Parador, has begun its first phase, marking the start of a key action for the revitalisation of the natural environment and the improvement of the coastal ecosystem in Javea
Projected by the Provincial Coastal Service in Alicante and in active coordination with Javea Town Hall, this is one of the initial investments, with the intention of tackling the adjacent road next year in a project included in the GVA budget.
The mayoress, Rosa Cardona, has highlighted the importance of this intervention, which responds to a historic demand from its residents.
“This project is essential to recover and preserve a coastal area that is so important for our town, which has been the subject of numerous requests from residents. In recent months, we have held several meetings with the General Directorate of Coasts to ensure that this work is not just another project but a reality, that it is carried out in the best possible way, respecting the environment and improving its accessibility and safety.”
Main actions of the project
- Surface cleaning of the area to remove plastics, papers, construction waste and other waste.
- Mechanical extraction of anthropogenic soil and transfer of materials to authorised landfills.
- Removal of invasive vegetation (such as reeds and canes).
- Demolition of a concrete wall in a specific section.
- Archaeological recovery of three quarry fronts of great historical value.
- Creation of six pedestrian routes.
- Installation of ecological fences to protect areas of endemic flora and slopes.
- Creation of shaded areas with wooden pergolas, benches and waste bins at strategic points.
- Placement of explanatory signs to enrich the experience of visitors both in the archaeological trail as well as viewpoints.
Primer Montañar
The project will be developed in two phases, starting with the northern section, and the execution of this first phase has been awarded to the TRAGSA Group with a budget of 333.763,53 euros. It is estimated that the work in this phase will be completed within three months.
The mayoress has highlighted that this restoration will not only allow former splendour to be restored to a degraded area, but will also promote a more respectful and sustainable use by residents and visitors.
