Heads up to anyone wearing a high end watch!
A warning post on the Moraira Connect group by Chris Pratt-Johnson on Friday alerted locals to a couple of thieves who are clearly planning their robberies and are working our coastline. The post was not shareable but Chris has given his permission for the warning to be circulated more widely.
“Last evening In Moraira, (Friday 29th march) coming out of the clinic, an attractive young lady asked me the time. After glancing at my watch I told her, then drove away not thinking much of it and went into Moraira for a drink.
An hour later I drove home. While I was waiting for the sliding gate to open I saw a car approaching in my rear view mirror and put on my indicator. The car stopped 2 blocks away in front of another villa and I assumed that was their stop. I proceeded to enter the driveway and closed the gate behind me, before it fully closed this same woman from earlier slipped in as I got out of my car.
I saw the arm of the male accomplice trying to stop the gate but he was too late. Now she was trapped inside with no way out. I recognised her immediately and knew what she was after. She was babbling on in English about needing some help. I said I couldn’t and took her to the side gate which I unlocked and attempted to usher her out.
At that point she became super aggressive grabbing at my arm, very strong for her size. And despite all my efforts she managed to strip my watch off and jumped into the waiting car and was gone!
Be aware of any dark grey/black old Seat looking vehicle with a man with blue jacket and pretty caucasian lady in white. If you see such a vehicle please try and get the licence plate. Had to go to Javea Guardia, since Moraira was closed! They told me the same happened in Calpe, so they may be moving up the coast. “
