Moraira Moors and Christians Finale Weekend

Moraira celebrates its popular festival again this year until the finale on June 18th with an extensive programme that is sure to please both residents and visitors alike.

This year the organising captaincies are Filà Muladíes, from the Christian side, and Filà Almorach, from the Moorish side.

Friday 16th June

• 13:00 p.m. Concentration of the Christian Band in Fortí and Bando Moro in the pergola of Paseo del Senillar and parade accompanied by brass bands.
• 14:00 p.m. Firing from an arquebus on the Castle Esplanade.
• 19:15 p.m. Offering of flowers in honor of the Santísimo Cristo de Moraira in the Ermita del Castillo. At the end of the act, interpretation of the march “Ofrena al Castell” composed by Rafa Soriano, dedicated to the Moraira Central Board of Moors and Christians and especially to its president, Carla Beltrán. This march will be performed by all the bands under the direction of Montserrat Tro Peris.
• 23:00 p.m. Conquista Mora on La Ampolla Beach, followed by the Moorish Embassy and Conquest of the Castle of Moraira. Next, night of captaincies.

Saturday 17th June

08:00 a.m. General awakening with arquebuses and charanga.

11:00 am Concentration of all the rows in the Fortí and parade with pennants.

12:00 Mass in honour of the Holy Christ in the Moraira Parish and parade.

13:00 p.m. Firing from an arquebus in the Esplanade of the Castle and informal parade of filaes.

19:30 p.m. Parade of the Moors and Christians all the way to the beach.

20:00 p.m. Christian Reconquest on the beach of La Ampolla. Assault on Moraira Castle by the Christian Side followed by the Christian Embassy and Reconquest of the Castle.

00:00 hours Popular Retreat from Fortí. Then Night of Kabyles with a performance by the AVALANXA orchestra on Avenida del Portet.

Sunday 18th June

• 08:00 a.m. Wake up general with arquebuses.
• 12:00 pm Concentration of the Moorish faction in the Fortí and the Christian faction in the pergola of Paseo del Senillar and parade accompanied by brass bands.
• 12:30 p.m. Firing from an arquebus on the Castle Esplanade.
• 19:00 p.m. Entrance of Music Bands from the Castle to the Fortí.
• 20:00 p.m. Grand Gala Parade of the Moorish and Christian factions.
