Last Friday was one of the hottest days of the last 150 years. The city of Valencia had thermometers registering 49 degrees , this temperature had only been exceeded 16 times in the last 150 years , all of them in July and August.
The highest temperature ever recorded during the day in the city centre is 43 °C (109 °F) on 27 August 2010.
On the north coast and the south coast the red warning has been activated due to high temperatures, a warning that has been added to the maximum heat alert in 262 municipalities of the Valencian Community.
When will the thermometers drop?
The State Meteorological Agency notes that the west winds were changing as of last Friday night and more locally, there seems to be a little breeze today as I write with just one fan on me instead of the usual three!
