The mayor has called a meeting to ask the local branches if they plan to implement some type of measure to solve the problem.
The city council makes the meeting public just a few hours after CompromÃs presented a motion demanding just the same, but the Mayor’s office assures that the meeting has been preparing “for months”.
José Chulvi, will meet this coming Friday with the directors of the banks in the municipality to convey his concern about the reduction in face-to-face care that has been experienced in recent months.
It is understood that there is “citizen discomfort” due to the difficulties that people with few technological skills are going through -especially older people- or who lack the necessary tools (computers or connections to the network) when having to face a system converted, almost entirely to digital.

Personally speaking, having waited in line ( twice) for 30 minutes or so, just to collect a new bank card at one of the popular banks in Javea and witnessing one of the staff being incredibly rude to an elderly gentleman who clearly just had a quick question to ask and could probably not stand in a long line for half an hour, plus other matters which I will not go into, I have just changed to a bank where, although mainly online, their doors are open until 2pm and the staff are really helpful. – Loraine – Javea Connect
