Javea’s indoor swimming pool saga continues

The Municipal Swimming Pool still has closed doors, well after works were completed. The problem is none other than a significant series of deficiencies in the facilities that are delaying its opening.

A councilor explained that since taking office, he has focused his efforts on accelerating the opening of the pool, which is expected to be a meeting and leidsure point for local people. However, the execution of the work, contracted in September 2021, has presented numerous deficiencies that have emerged day by day, preventing an opening on the planned date.

Among the most critical deficiencies are the water losses in the two pools, both the large and the small one, as well as in the compensation tank. In addition, problems have been detected in the rainwater drains, which, being not well executed, have allowed rainwater to leak into the pool. Added to this is that the interior signage is in poor condition.

Given this situation, the Sports Department has transferred responsibility to the Urban Planning Department and is preparing a detailed technical report that will be posted shortly to demand that the contracting company, under guarantee, correct all these deficiencies as soon as possible, “although there are many details to point out, the most worrying thing are the leaks and structural deficiencies that must be solved.” “We are one hundred percent committed to opening a municipal swimming pool that is in perfect condition,” said the councilor, who added “after this long wait, we want the pool will be a source of pride and enjoyment for everyone.”

People are still eagerly awaiting the opening of the pool. The Sports Department assures that they are doing everything possible so that the pool can open as soon as possible, once the quality and safety of the facilities is guaranteed.
