The council’s opinion highlights that the Javea born sculptor and artist has dedicated himself giving life to iron, with sculptures of all shapes and sizes.

He began his career from a very young age, first with drawings and then with wood and iron. He made his first sculpture at the age of 14, when he was a blacksmith’s apprentice, and now, four decades later, we can see his work in many corners of our town and beyond, with sculptures that represent both natural elements as well as everyday life activities.

Toni Marí has been committed to his roots and has taken the name of Javea all over the world.

He has always been willing to contribute his work with various organisations and associations in different local non-profit causes.

The recent press release highlights that he is a person committed to Javea and to the Marina Alta, through his participation in the worldwide solidarity network which is the Rotary. And he has been the driving force behind the programme Compartim Comarca, to defend the interests of this land.

The other award winner is the association Condenados al Bordillo, which was founded in 2001. The unanimous decision of the Xabieria council states that this entity has as its basic objective to develop various projects to improve the quality of life of people with different abilities.

Currently the association is very well established in the Marina Alta, where it carries out a series of projects to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities with the aim of promoting all their possibilities of development in an environment as normal as possible.

Condenados al Bordillo carries out in the region a series of projects in which more than 90 people with disabilities, regardless of their age or gender. Among others, the School of Adapted Sports, weekend outings, the programme at the Raquel PAyà School, therapeutic swimming, rehabilitation, sensory stimulation…, activities that are carried out with joy and the enthusiasm of the people hired-some of them with disabilities- as well as a high number of volunteers.
