A man was arrested after being stopped by police during an attempt to smuggle half a kilo of cocaine into Spain by trying to hide it underneath an “oversized” toupee.
Spanish police said the man arrived in Barcelona on a flight from Bogota, Colombia, and attracted attention as he looked nervous and had a disproportionately large hairpiece under his hat.
After stopping him they found a package stuck to his head with about 30,000 euros, £27,000, worth of cocaine.
A police statement said: “There is no limit to the inventiveness of drug traffickers trying to mock controls.”
Police shared a photo of a middle-aged man (identity unknown) still wearing the wig but with his eyes blocked in the image.
Over 100 kilos of cocaine were seized by Spanish police at the Barcelona-El Prat airport in 2018 and the Colombian man was detained at the end of June.
Did he REALLY think he could get away with it?
