Agents of the National Police in Dénia have arrested an English man aged 48 years of age in Javea. There was an OIDE (International Order of Detention and Surrender for Extradition) issued by the authorities in the UK for an alleged crimes of drug trafficking and illegal possession of firearms.
As reported in a statement from the National Police Provincial Police, the Judicial Police of Dénia received a communication from the Group of International Fugitives about a British citizen who was known to be under an International Arrest Warrant issued by the UK Authorities and that could be hiding in the province of Alicante.
Having carried out the first investigations into his whereabouts, the agents located his home in Javea, where a large police force attended and secured the arrest.
According to official sources, the crimes for which he was wanted, took place in September 2004 in Manchester
Manchester police arrested him when he was carrying out a drug exchange inside a van. Later two firearms and a bag containing narcotic substances such as Diamorphine and Petidine were found. When giving a statement to the police, he initially denied having any involvement with the crimes but later confessed.
The arrested man was awaiting trial in England for an alleged crime of drug trafficking and illegal possession of firearms, facing a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
Once detained, he was placed at the disposal of the National Court of where the processing of the International Detention Order will be made.
