Dead fish surface the Canal de la Fontana, Javea

by JC Admin

The Marina Concessionaire have informed the Town Hall this morning of the appearance of some dead fish on the surface of the water.

After learning of this, the Town Hall contacted the company responsible for street and beach cleaning who, together with the Red Cross boat, carried out an operation to collect the dead fish.

The plan is to carry out several raids over the next few days as it is likely that more will appear.

Regarding the origin: The indications point to a lack of oxygen in the water. However, the Town Hall has commissioned a water analysis of the Fontana Canal itself, to analyse the state of the water.

As you may know, the remains of the desalination process are discharged into the Canal de la Fontana, and this allowed the water in the canal to come back to life many years ago.
