MABS Cancer Support Fundación’s commitment in Spain can be summed up in this short sentence: "To care, comfort and counsel people affected by cancer".

Cancer, in all its forms, is estimated to affect one of us every minute, every day. Cancer cares not for who you are, what you do, what you think or where you are from. Cancer cares not that it affects a close family member or relative, or a friend, or of course ourselves.

As a Cancer Support Fundación, MABS is available to anyone of any nationality who needs help as a result of:

• being diagnosed with cancer.
• affected by a spouse or partner having cancer.
• bereavement due to cancer.
• no respite from spouse or partner with cancer.

Charity Shops

Every MABS shop is a very important source of income for us. Without them, we would find it difficult to maintain the level of service we give to those who need it most.

All our charity shops will gratefully accept donations - in good, clean condition of clothing, footwear, bags, accessories, jewellery and bric-a-brac. Some of our shops will also accept larger items such as home and garden furniture, white goods, appliances, mirrors etc. Call your nearest branch and we can arrange free pick up of larger items. MABS can also deliver large heavy items purchased in our stores for a small charge.

Support Centres

MABS has five support centres across the Costa Blanca and Costa Cálida where we can provide assistance and information to people in need.

Where It All Began

Our foundations were laid in 1999, when 5 ladies with breast cancer found there was no support during and after treatment. Knowing there was a clear need for greater caring and services for cancer sufferers in Spain, these determined ladies created the Marina Alta Breast Cancer Support, dropping the C from the acronym to read MABS.

Our current President, Jacqui Phillips MBE, was one of those determined ladies.

From 1999 onward, this small group worked hard to attend to those diagnosed with breast cancer, providing transport, counselling & assistance attending hospital appointments. From that small group, MABS grew in size & services. As MABS expanded in size and area of presence, Hospitals and Medical personnel increasingly referred patients with all types of cancer to MABS.

As a result of this ongoing situation, the name was changed to MABS Cancer Support Group, in recognition that it was now supporting people with all types of cancer. MABS Cancer Support Group Centres and Charity Shops span from Valencia in the north down to Murcia in the south.
