The series ‘Respira” (Breathless), an original Netflix production created by Carlos Montero, premiered recently on Netflix and has sparked great interest both for its plot and for its obvious beautiful settings.
Part of the series was filmed in Javea, specifically in one of the most spectacular houses in the Portitxol area, designed by an architect from the Marina Alta. This exclusive location, with its Mediterranean sea viws and its avant-garde architecture, appears in the series.
‘Respira’ features a star-studded cast, led by Blanca Suárez, who plays the lead role, alongside Manu Ríos and Najwa Nimri. The story combines mystery, drama and a visually striking setting that perfectly complements the tension of the plot.
The eight-episode series is led by a passionate medical team dedicated to saving lives in an overwhelmed public hospital, where tensions—and love—make people’s hearts race.
1 season, 8 episodes.
Biel is one of the residents who has been working at a public hospital for a few months. Hundreds of shifts, thousands of hours, that barely leave him time for his life, all in order to become the best doctor.
What he doesn’t imagine is that a total strike will break out in the hospital, with no minimum services. The doctors are forced to do this to try to raise awareness of their essential work and to protest against all the intolerable cuts that the public health system is suffering.
But Biel and the other residents don’t know whether to go along with this strike, which could have fatal consequences for patients.
And from this conflict we will get to know each of them in their day-to-day lives: who are these young people who go out of their way in the hospital, taking on too much responsibility, and who are these adults who are prepared to lose everything in order to fight for what they believe in?
The original Spanish version has been dubbed in English.
