by Loraine Gostling

Last Sunday, 15th September, at around 09:00 a.m., the Local Police arrested a man after receiving a call from 112 reporting a violent individual who, armed with a knife, was trying to enter a home in the Jávea Park apartments and was threatening to kill the residents.

The situation caused great social alarm in the Arenal area, as the suspect was walking down the street covered in blood and carrying the weapon.

Immediately, all the operational units of the Local Police went to the scene, locating the suspect, who was standing shirtless on the corner of the sports and services area of Avenida de París.

Upon noticing the police presence, the man fled through the alleys of Jávea Park but after a chase on foot, and with the collaboration of several neighbours, the officers managed to locate him in a restaurant on the same road.

The man, aged around 30, had traces of blood on his clothes and body, which led to his immediate immobilisation.

Subsequent investigations, based on witness and victim testimony, revealed that the incident began in an apartment in Jávea Park, where a family gathering was being held after the Saturday festivities.

At one point, a fight broke out between two men, resulting in one of them being seriously injured in the left arm with deep cuts. The other individual, who was later arrested, left the house accompanied by his partner, carrying a kitchen knife and uttering death threats.

Several calls from witnesses who witnessed the events alerted the police and 112. One of the witnesses reported that the man hit and dragged his partner by the hair, in addition to causing damage to a vehicle parked in the area.

After corroborating the facts and finding the knife hidden under a nearby car, the Police proceeded to inform the suspect of the charges against him, which include gender violence and breach of a previous court order.

The suspect was duly arrested and taken to the Guardia Civil Headquarters, where the investigation continued.
