The incident occured this morning, at around 9:30 am, on a building site in C/Juan Cordero in Jávea. The first floor structure collapsed while concrete was being poured on the slab, causing a worker to fall from a height of two storeys.
The worker, a 28 year-old Romanian man, was initially assisted by the Red Cross, with SAMU assistance arriving a few minutes later. The injury was serious and after being evaluated by the emergency services, he was transferred, under care, to Denia Hospital.
Firefighters were also at the scene of the accident, who assessed the risk of a further collapse and helped to move the injured man to a safer place. The Jávea Local Police and the Guardia Civil have launched an investigation to determine the causes of the collapse.
