More than 1.5 million tourists visit the Marina Alta but only a small percentage travel inland.

According to data from the National Institute of Statistics, recently collected by the Marina Alta Observatory on World Tourism Day, 1.519.748 tourists visited our region between the months of January and July 2024.

23,8% more visitors this year

In 2024 the region welcomed 23,8% more visitors compared to the same period in 2023.

As for the distribution of tourism, the coast continues to be drowned in tourists, with 81% of the total. The intermediate zone received 15%, while the inland area continues to be the great forgotten, with only 4% ofthe tourist market. (Interactive map below).

Dénia accumulated almost 500.000 visitors, Javea almost 320.000 and Calpe almost 300.000 tourists.

Where have the tourists come from in 2024?

As regards the origin of visitors to the region, national tourists outnumber foreign tourists, with 910.094 and 609.654 people respectively. Calpe is the municipality most chosen by visitors from outside the country, having received 2024 people between January and July 135.669. Javea, for its part, was visited by 133.875 foreigners and Dénia, 98.535.

By nationality, people from the UK continue top the visitors list in the region, specifically 168.478 between January and July 2024.

Among the “tourist top ten” are visitors from the Netherlands (93.364 people), Germany (65.139), France (60.123), Belgium (57.066), Switzerland (22.185), Poland (18.372), Ireland (11.574), Sweden (10.117) and Austria (9.619).

In all the towns of the Marina Alta, the foreign tourists who visit the most are the English, except for Llíber, which has more Dutch visitors and Els Poblets and El Verger, which receive more German tourists.
