At dawn on Monday 14th August, there was a brawl at around 05.00, in one of the side streets off the Avenida de la Libertad on the Arenal, in which the Local Police had to intervene. In this fight, one of the participants in the brawl was run over.
The perpetrator of the hit-and-run was another involved in the fight, who, after taking his car, tried to run over the young man, causing major injuries. The driver then fled from the scene of the crime.
Javea police then alerted the police in D̩nia in case they located the fleeing vehicle and so he was apprehended Рthe driver refused to submit to the breathalyser and drug test. D̩nia agents processed their own report that was sent to the Duty Court.
The witnesses of the event provided police officers with some videos that they recorded from the moment of the incident, together with other information they had prepared. Judicial proceedings were transferred to the La Guardia Civil in Jávea, who has opened an investigation for a alleged intentional homicide attempt resulting in injury.
