A personal article, outlining the story behind this event – our first one since 2019.
In September 2021, sadly, my father was given just a short time to live and as the Denia Hospital Administration were (let us say) less than helpful, I was in urgent need of help when he was brought back home for his final few days, with no medication, no help or advice from Palliative Care and one single catheter bag!
Not knowing where to turn, I contacted the lovely Dawn Townsend, who then put me in touch with the Cancer Care Lynwen Nursing team and they were absolutely wonderful during that very stressful time. I cannot thank them enough for their help and the way they cared for me and my father, in particular Jayne Nuttall, Sue Sparkes, Kate and Amelie.
With this in mind, together with the fact that this group reaches its 10th Anniversary in March 2022 and has now topped a membership of over 25,000, I have organised another Javea Connect event, on 26th March. and all proceeds will be delivered to that wonderful charity.
This is my family’s way of thanking them from the bottom of our hearts and also, my Dad, (who I know was a little in love with all of these nurses 😉  would have loved this way of finally saying goodbye to him, as it was impossible to get everyone to Spain for his funeral.
Dad did reach the ripe old age of 93 and had a great and full life but even so, nobody is ever really prepared for this and the help of these wonderful ladies was invaluable.
So, in short, if you can support this event in any way at all, please get in touch with me. I have had a fantastic response to my posts on Javea Connect and sponsorships and prizes are rolling in, but there is always room for more!
Tickets for the event are limited and selling fast but if you would like to come along, please call Black Flame direct on 965 76 17 31 to make a reservation.
