After last year’s whirlwind visit from the 3 Kings, Javea council is now finalising preparations so that it can revert to it’s traditional celebrations with a parade full of colour and music that will bring joy to the the youngest children of the town on January 5th.
However, this forecast will be conditional upon the evolution of the pandemic and the recommendations made by the Health Department but which, for the moment, is still in place – AND with many new developments.
The Royal Emissaries have announced that this year, that they will be camped in Javea from 3rd of January to the finalising of the wrapping of presents and will receive all letters from town’s children.
The royal camp will be set up in Parque Montaner and will be decorated with a living nativity scene and animals.
It is scheduled to be open to visitors on the afternoons of 3rd and 4th January (from 16:00 to 20:00) with capacity control and following a recommended itinerary to avoid crowds.
There will be a letter box as usual , but there will be many more options to drop in their wish lists.
Until the 4th January, three fixed mailboxes will be available in the parish of El Loreto, Paseo David Ferrer and Plaza de la Iglesia.
The Emissaries will also collect on the 2nd January (from 5 p.m.) by wandering about inthe Duanes and on the 3rd of January (also from 5 p.m.) in the parish of Duanes and by the Christmas tree in the Arenal.
It will be the afternoon of 5th January when Melchior, Gaspar and Balthazar will arrive. As is customary, they will sail to Javea by boat and will disembark at around 5 p.m. at the fishing dock, where they will begin start the parade through Duanes and the old town centre (ending at the placeta del Convent), which this year will be without stops in order to avoid a large concentration of people.
The 2021 and 2022 quintos will take part in the procession – two dance groups, the collas Portitxol, Xirimitab’s and the band of the Centro ArtÃstico Musical de XÃ bia and will be closed by a large float with the Three Kings.
The Fiestas Department ask for all possible collaboration from those who attend these events, (remembering the importance of wearing face masks, keeping their distance and usinghydroalcoholic gel) and have asked for understanding in the event that these circumstances may be subject to changes to the schedule.
